Nepal Maoist

A Nepal Maoist is a member of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist). The Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) or CPN (M) first saw the light of day in 1994.

The average Nepal Maoist belongs to the less economically privileged section of the Nepali population. Nepal Maoists are communist party workers dedicated to the social cause. The Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) or CPN (M) was formed by a split in the Communist Party of Nepal (Unity Center). The demands of the party include abolishment of the monarchy and various comprehensive social and economic reforms. The CPN (M) operates under various aliases. Each alias serves one specific social function. The trade union wing of the party is named the All Nepal Trade Union Federation (Revolutionary). The students' wing of the CPN (M) is known as All Nepal National Free Students Union (Revolutionary).

The Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) also controls the 'Nepalese Peoples War' armed military group. The Nepalese Peoples War organization is a quasi military body. It generally employs guerrilla tactics in fighting Nepal government enforcers and the Royal Nepal Army or RNA. The CPN (M) has a contemporary and progressive social outlook. It has many women cadres in its recruits. The party is under the able leadership of Pushpa Kamal Dahal or Comrade Prachanda.
