Nepal Universities

Nepal Universities are famous for the offering quality higher education to students. Education in Nepal has only recently started to develop. The Rana regime in Nepal has suppressed education in Nepal. As a result of which education of Nepal suffered a lot. After Rana regime, steps were taken to refine education system. It was realized that it is impossible to eradicate poverty without education. As a result Nepal universities were set up to give higher education to people.

The oldest University of Nepal was set up in the year 1959. The name of the university is Tribhuvan University. This university was the only university in Nepal till 1985. Around 80's the government of Nepal came up with the idea of Multi- University System. According to this concept each university should be unique in its own. Each university should have unique nature, content and function. To give realization to this concept Mahendra Sanskrit University was established. After that the Kathmandu University was established around 90's.

The university at Purbanchal was founded in 1995 and the Pokhara University was set up in 1996. There are some colleges that are private but all the Universities of Nepal are not run by private initiative. Another University of Nepal is Siddhartha University. This university is the first and only university in Nepal. But this only university amongst six universities in Nepal has not got approval from Government.
