Nauru Human Rights are generally conformed to by the Government and other state run agencies on the island. The Government ensures that there is no breach of such rights enjoyed by the citizen. Even if there is a reported deviation from the norm, the law courts and other concerned authorities ensure that there is adequate compensation for it. Reported cases of delays in judicial procedures, isolation of miners of other nationalities in all aspects of socio-politico-economic life, limitations upon the adherence to other religions, and the fact of some asylum seekers still housed there in unfavorable living conditions despite the discontinuance of the detention center and the processing unit sparked some controversy in the island.

There are also provisions for Worker rights, Discrimination, social abuses, human trafficking, and the attitude of the Government towards the international and non governmental investigation of human rights violations. The worker rights are significant in this context as the bulk of the population is engaged in phosphate mining. The workers are entitled to the right to form associations, organizations, abandonment of child and forced labor and proper conditions of work.
Australia had to face strong opposition from human rights agencies on its joint agreement with US to barter refugees from detention centers in Nauru.
