Namibia Regions and Cities

Namibia Regions and Cities are the main political divisions of the country. After a turbulent past, the country of Namibia achieved independence in the year 1990. The achievement of independence was an important benchmark in the history of Namibia and it was only after 1990 that Namibia organized the whole of the country into regions. Namibia Regions and Cities form units of Namibia land and people.

Namibia Regions

Namibia Regions form units of the country. The 13 regions of Namibia are further sub-divided into magisterial districts. The variety in topography, resources, society and culture of Namibia Regions make each singular. The chief region of Namibia is perhaps the Khomas Region which is centered around the capital of the country. The other regions include Erongo, Kunene, Karas, Hardap, Okavango, Omaheke, Caprivi, Ohangwena, Omusati, Oshana, Oshikoto and Otjozondjupa.

Namibia Cities form the centers of urban life of the country. Windhoek, the capital of the country, is the most important city of Namibia. The cities of Namibia were mostly set up as a part of the missionary activities in the country and attained significance after the independence of the country.
