The communication and transport system of Namibia have undergone significant development in recent times. That has made traveling to Namibia quite easy, fast, cheap and convenient. One of the major airlines of Namibia which runs international as well as domestic flights to Namibia is Air Namibia.
Founded in 1946, Air Namibia was initially a part of South West Air Transport. Later it came under South West Airways. In 1982 majority of the shares of the airline were taken over by the government which made the airline Air Namibia the most important airline of Namibia. The airline began running direct flights from Windhoek to Cape Town and Johannesburg with Boeing 737 from 1989.
Air Namibia of Namibia runs direct flights between Namibia and Europe everyday. The airline has four flights weekly that run from Namibia to Frankfurt and three weekly flights from the country to London and back. The flights take 10 hours and are equipped with adequate facilities. Besides London and Frankfurt, Namibia's Air Namibia also connects Windhoek, the country's capital with other regions of Africa like Johannesburg, Cape Town (South Africa), Luanda (Angola), Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe) and Maun (Botswana). Within the Country Air Namibia runs flights from Windhoek to Ondangwa,katima Mulilo, Walvis Bay, Oranjemund and Luderitz.
Air Namibia has a variety of offers for its customers. The airline provides group and special rates which apply to groups of 10 or more, youth, sports groups, students and infants and children. The fleet of Air Namibia consists of A340-300 which is Airbus, B737 which is Boeing 737-200 and is used for regional flights and BE1 which is Beechcraft 1900 C.
