Wildlife in Namibia is as exciting as it is plentiful. Home to a number of animal species, Namibia abounds in National parks, wildlife reserves and safaris. Among all the animals found in Namibia the Namibia Cheetah is a species that is protected in the country. These slender bodied and graceful animals roam the deserts of Namibia and are also found in the country's wildlife reserves and national parks.
With almost 4000 cheetahs Namibia is famous for the largest population of Cheetahs in the entire world. The cheetahs of Namibia are not much bothered by humans. Therefore in Namibia people can pet the cheetahs. But they have to follow a few rules while petting the cheetahs.
Susceptible to various diseases the cheetahs in Namibia form a source of various kinds of studies that are made on them. The Namibia Cheetahs are found in various wild regions of the country. They live on farm animals and form a significant part of the country's ecology.
Cheetahs are a greatly endangered species in the whole world as well as in Namibia. But their number in Namibia has improved over a period of time. Surveys made in 1982 showed the number of Namibia Cheetahs to be 2000 to 2500. This number has gone up considerably in the recent times and has reached an approximate of 4000 today. The Otjitotongwe Cheetah Park located in the north western part of Namibia house a large number of cheetahs in Namibia.
The Cheetahs do not pose much danger to human beings. But they ransack farms and destroy livestock. The safaris in Namibia provide a close view of the Namibia Cheetahs which co-exist with a number of other animal species in Namibia.
