Himba Namibia
Himba Namibia is the ancient tribe of Namibia and is based in the Kunene region of the country. These semi- nomadic pastoralists are extraordinary people and have retained their cultural heritage the same way till today. It is said that initially in 1800's the Himbas were poor due to the Nama cattle raiders and later on they were forced to be hunter-gatherers. Due to this reason the Himbas were known as "Tjimba" which literally meant the animals which digs for its food. The Himba believes in the ritual of fire and they believe that fire is the medium of contact between the living and the dead. The Himbas are generally friendly people.
The Himbas follow a very traditional way of life. New born babies in their culture are adorned with pearl necklaces. The older children are further given the copper crafted bracelets and jewelry. The Himba women take great care of their beauty and grooming forms the essential part of their lives.
Namibia is a hub of various tribes and they all make up for the population of Namibia.
