The new Mozambique National Anthem was adopted officially on 30th April in the year of 2002. The music of this new Mozambique National Anthem 'Patria Amada' was composed by Justino Sigaulane Chemane. The lyrics of this Mozambique National Anthem were written by the music composer himself.
But after Mozambique gained its independence on 25th June, 1975, the officially accepted Mozambique National Anthem was a different one. It was 'Viva, Viva a FRELIMO' (Long Live FRELIMO). The music composer and the lyricist of this former Mozambique National Anthem was the same person who had composed the music and written the lyrics of the new Mozambique National Anthem. FRELIMO was the main political party to bring the independence of Mozambique in June 1975. Henceforth, the name of FRELIMO was mentioned in the earlier. But, after the new multi-party political system started its operation after the multi-party elections in 2002, a new anthem was needed. This need gave birth to the new Mozambique National Anthem 'Patria Amada'.
The Mozambique National Anthem was written in the official language of Mozambique, Portuguese. The modern Mozambique National Anthem starts with the praise of the national flag of Mozambique. It also calls for the unity of the people of Mozambique. The Mozambique National Anthem praises the peasants and the workers of Mozambique. It also reflects Mozambique's commitment against the bourgeoisie. The lyrics speak of Mozambique's determination against capitalism and exploitation. The Mozambique National Anthem ends with praise for the Mozambique's working class which is determined to bring wealth to the economy of Mozambique.
