The region is landlocked from three sides and has the Atlantic Ocean on one side of the region. The region is under the administration of a chief governor, namely Mohammad Kabbaj. There are total of eight prefectures and two provinces in Greater Casablanca region in Morocco.
With a large population of 40 lakh people, the region has shown great developments and improvements over the past years. Greater Casablanca and specially Casablanca has developed into an economically active zone in Morocco. The region is the heart of the Moroccan economy and almost all the economic activities are controlled from this place.
There are many plans and programs that are carried out by the Moroccan government to enhance the developmental procedures in the country. There are several types of industries that are concentrated in the region of Greater Casablanca and in Casablanca. Almost 40% of the production units in Morocco come from the Greater Casablanca region, while 60% of industrial labor comes from the area. Major industrial exports are sent from this region in Morocco.
