Doukkala Abda




Doukkala Abda is one of the regions in Morocco, in North Africa. There are sixteen regions in, which the country is divided for administrative purposes. One of the regions among
this is Doukkala Abda. Located in west-central part of Morocco, the region is one of the most important administrative regions in Morocco. The capital of Doukkala Abda is Safi.

Doukkala Abda is not a very small region in Morocco. It is extended on an area of 13,285 square kilometers. Population in the region is around 21 lakh. Some of the regions in Morocco are again sub-divided into provinces. The two provinces in the Doukkala Abda are as follows:

  • Safi province - The capital of Doukkala Abda, this province is located in the western part of Morocco on the Atlantic Ocean. The place is an important trading center in Morocco. Sardine
      fishing trade is carried out from this port and is one of the primary fishing ports in the country. The region is also an exporter of ceramics, phosphates and textiles. Safi also remained under Portuguese colonial rule in the 15th and 16th century.

    • El Jadida - This is one of the mot important trading destinations in Morocco, as it is a port city on the Atlantic Ocean. There are several items that are exported from this province and include almonds, chick-peas, beans, maize, eggs, wax and many more. There are beautiful archeological and historical monuments in the place too. The port of Marrakech is in close vicinity to this province.
