Louis II Stadium

The Louis II stadium is situated in the Fontvieille district of Monaco. The Louis II stadium is a home to both the sports of football as well as the athletics. Here in this stadium of Monaco you can enjoy the annual UEFA Super Cup match as well as the AS Monaco match. For athletics, the Louis II stadium is famous for holding the IAAF World Athletics Final. As the Louis II stadium of Monaco is not big enough in size certain events like the hammer take place elsewhere.

The original Louis II stadium was opened up in the year 1939. At that time it was only the home to AS Monaco. The new Louis II stadium was constructed in the early hours of 1980s and opened fully in the year 1985. Recently, on May 31, 2004, a blast took place beside the stadium, which caused damage to the Louis II stadium and a neighboring building called La Ruche in Fontvieille. The explosion caused relatively widespread damages to the framework of the stadium buildings but there were not many damages in the respective structures of the stadium building.

The Louis II stadium of Monaco includes around eighteen thousand five hundred seats. The Louis II stadium of Monaco offers its visitors a large underground car parking area. The versatile facilities of this stadium and the high-level surroundings suitable for the international contests have made it one of the premium sports complexes in the world.
