Recently, on May 31, 2004, a blast took place beside the stadium, which caused damage to the Louis II stadium and a neighboring building called La Ruche in Fontvieille. The explosion caused relatively widespread damages to the framework of the stadium buildings but there were not many damages in the respective structures of the stadium building.
