The Prince of Monaco is the sovereign monarch. Sovereign Prince of Monaco is the head of state. Although the Sovereign Prince of Monaco enjoys number of powers but some of his original powers of early days are degenerated to numerous legislative and advisory bodies. With the adaptation of new Monaco constitution in the year 1962, the constitution describe the prince as the formulator of legislation but as per the constitution all laws formulated by him must get an approval from the legislative branch that is the National Council. The executive branch of Monaco government, which is known as the Council of Government works under the authority of the prince of Monaco. The legislative branch of Monaco government, which is known as the National Council includes twenty-four members and all the members of this council are elected by popular vote. For the issues of the administration of the princedom both the organizations, the Minister of State and the Government Council remain directly responsible to the Sovereign Prince of Monaco.
Like Liechtenstein, Monaco is a country in Europe where the prince even now plays an important role in the politics of Monaco. The Sovereign Prince of Monaco enjoys his authority and power as per the guideline of constitution and law. The Sovereign Prince of Monaco acts as the representative of the princedom in the case of all foreign relations.
The Sovereign Prince of Monaco also enjoys some Judiciary powers. The prince of Monaco enjoys full authority over the tribunals and the courts of Monaco where the justice takes place in the name of the present prince of the state.
