The College of Micronesia was established to promote higher education in the country and to make it accessible to every nook and corner of the state. The College of Micronesia is equipped to offer courses pertaining to different areas of knowledge. Not only does it pay an emphasis on the theoretical acquisition of knowledge but also on its practical implementation. The College aims at building up an environment suitable for learning so that it facilitates the success of students and also employs a trained faculty to impart quality education.
The different degree and certificate courses at the College of Micronesia incorporate various subjects from the science, commerce and humanities stream. Degrees are awarded to those students who successfully complete a two year program in the subject while the certificate courses are of one year duration. There are several campuses of the College of Micronesia. There is a National campus located in the capital city of Palikir on the Pohnpei islands. There are other campuses at Chuuk, Yap, Pohnpei and Kosrae.
