Nouadhibou

Nouadhibou is Mauritania's commercial hub and is the second largest city in the country. This city is a part of the Western Sahara Desert. While traveling from Morocco to Mauritania, this is the first city that the tourists come across. There is nothing much in the city and there are hardly any places of tourist attraction in the city. The only thing that attracts visitors to this Mauritanian city is the beautiful landscape feature and the climatic condition of the place.

Nouadhibou is well connected to the capital of Mauritania, Nouakchott, by airways and roadways. The roads are not very tourist friendly and traveling is not a very pleasant experience in the city. Nouadhibou is mainly distributed into four major areas, which make up the city. The very few tourist attractions in the city include several market places, a ships' graveyard and some archeological sites, which are almost in ruins.

Nouadhibou in Mauritania has good eating outlets, though arranging a suitable accommodation might be a problem for the tourists. The main food in the city consists of fish. Fishing is also the major economic activity in the city. Apart from fishing, the largest industry in the city is that of iron ore processing. There are some iron ore mines in Nouadhibou too. Steps are being taken by the Mauritania government to improve the standard of living of the people in Nouadhibou in Mauritania.
