Mauritania Archeology has brought forward many interesting facets of the country. Mauritania is located at the northwestern part of Africa. There are many archeological sites in Mauritania. Some of those sites, where archeological ventures have been made, are:
- Teqdaoust: This is an archeological site in the country. The Teqdaoust archeological site is a Berber site. It is presumed that this place represents Awdaghost, which was a historical town. From the excavation it has been concluded that this town was a major trade center in Sahara during the 9th Century A.D.
- Kumbi Saleh: Kumbi Saleh is presumed to be the archeological site of the Iron Age. In this place, the modern Mauritania was built by the society of Soninke belonging to Western Africa at the period of 600 A.D.
