- Garigue: Garigue is a rocky karstic ground with shrubs being the main vegetation. Amongst the shrubs the therophytes and the xerophytes are the popular domination. These shrubs can remain alive in rough temperature and in a scarcity of water. The well known species within this category of flora are Maltese Spurge, Yellow Kidney Vetch, Olive leaved Germander, Mediterranean health and Mediterranean Thyme.
- Woodland: Aleppo Pine and Holm Oak mainly dominates this kind of vegetation. The woodlands do not survive today. Different species of frogs exist in this place. Buskett is the popular semi natural woodland. The other popular trees of this place are Lentisk, Olive, Carob and Buckthorn.

- Marquis: Shrubs and trees are the popular part of this shrub community. Olive, Bear's Breeches, White Hedge nettle, Yellow Germander, Carob and Lentisk mainly dominates this shrub area.
- Rupestral Communities: This geological formation is situated western, south western and southern coasts of Malta. These cliffs is the hub of many flora and fauna at Malta. Shrubs are the popular part of this cliffs. The other indigenous species dominate this cliffs are Maltese Fleabane, Maltese Salt tree, Maltese Ever Lasting, Maltese Sea Lavender, Cory Shearwater and Blue Rock thrush.
- Coastal Communities: Brakish saline pools is the major characteristics of this community. These sea shore marsh lands have a swampy layer. During the dry season the water vaporize leading to the formation of brakish pools. The particular species that modify themselves according to the changing environment mainly survive in this community. Dune grasses like the Marram grass and Sand Couch are the popular are the popular inhabitants of the community.
- Freshwater Communities: The rain water which is the only water resource of Malta accumulates in the coralline Lime stone leading to the formation of fresh water pools. Very uncommon and fresh water species mainly dominate this community.
