Koulikoro



The city of Koulikoro is located in the Koulikoro region of southwestern Mali. It is geographically situated between 12°52’60’’North Latitude and 7°32’60’’West Longitude and at an altitude of 378 meters. Koulikoro city is the capital of the Koulikoro Region. Some of the adjoining cities and towns are Diendjila, Gouni and Koulikoroba.

Koulikoro city in Mali is located nearly 35 miles (55 km) northeast of Bamako, the capital of Mali. Since it is located very close to the national capital, it functions as a center of transportation. The city can be accessed very easily as the nearest airport is at Bamako and it takes only two hours to reach the airport by road. The airport connects the city to all the major cities of Mali and to the rest of the world. The Cercle of Koulikoro is segregated into 10 communes comprising of Tienfela, Koula, Meguetan, Dinandougou, Nyamina, Sirakorola, Tougouni and all.

The Koulikoro city is industrially developed and acts as the terminal of the Dakar-Niger Railway. After the rainy season is over between the months of August and November, the Niger River is mostly used for transporting goods to Tombouctou, Segou, Gao and Mopti. There are few oil and soap factories in Koulikoro that meets the domestic demands of the region.
