Kidal is a charming and historical city of Mali in West Africa. The city is situated in the Kidal region, which lies in the northern part of Mali and 1,500 km away from Bamako, the capital of Mali. The city of Kidal has a number of historical sites, which glorifies the history of the region. It is one of the major administrative centers of the country.

The city of Kidal is geographically located between 18° 26' 28'' North Latitude and 1° 24' 28'' East Longitude and at an elevation of 455 meters. Some of the nearby cities and towns are Anefis, I-n-Tebezas, Telabit, Abeibara and Ti-n-Essako. The economy of Kidal mainly depends on livestock breeding and craft-making. Tourism also forms an important source of revenue for the city.

Transport is still a challenge in Kidal as there are no tarmac roads in the city. But the government is taking various steps to develop the communication facility in the city.
