Kati, also known by the name of Kati Ville is a small town located in the Koulikoro region in Mali. The town lies at an altitude of 439 meters with 12º44'48'' North latitude and 8°4'17'' West longitude. Located by the River Niger, Kati is also the capital of the Kati's Cercle. The Cercles are the different administrative units or regions in Mali. The Kati city is considered to be a fortified military station.
As Kati is situated near the Sahara Desert, the climatic condition is mostly dry and humid. From February to June, it is quite hot and humid, from June to November there is little rainfall in the area while from November to February it has a dry and cool weather. So the time between November and February is considered to be the ideal time to visit the city. Tourists can indulge in various kinds of activities like Sahara camel trekking, caravan tours and camping in the desert during their Kati visit.
The tourists visiting Kati can reach the town via Bamako. Bamako, the capital city of Mali is just a few kilometers away from Kati. The Bamako Senou Airport is also located nearby. From there tourists can reach the city by road. Kati lies on the Kati-Negela-Kita and Bamako Kolokani road. The Dakar-Niger railway connects Kati to many cities in Mali. Ntonimba, Sananfara, Koko and Ntoubana are some of the few cities and towns in neighborhood.
The town of Kati is developing day by day. It has mainly Muslim population along with a few Roman Catholic communities. The language spoken by people of Kati is known as Bambara. There are a few schools and colleges in the city, where people can get primary and higher education. The French worked together to establish a center for arts as well as a youth club here. There is also a civil and a military hospital located in the city.
