Maldives Health and the health care system have improved a lot in the recent years. The Primary Maldives Healthcare basically dwells with the overall health needs of the community. Maldives health services are provided through countrywide referral networking by the family health workers. These people look after the health concern of the inhabited islands, Atoll Health centers, and four regional hospitals along with a central level hospital in Male. The "Institute of Heath Sciences" is responsible for training the health professionals and also conducts a three years diploma course in nursing and midwifery. The first course started in September 1991. Presently Maldives Health is in a better condition and the ministry of health is implementing new health projects for its further betterment.
