According to the geologists, Zomba plateau of Malawi was formed by the hard igneous rocks that managed to survive the erosion caused by the natural forces. The plateau presently offers a wide variety of walks through the forest here. Three of these walk-throughs are immensely popular. The Mulunguzi Damn to the Trout Farm past allows the tourists to see the original forest which is by the side of the stream. The other small yet interesting walk-through is the walk to Songani Lookout from the emperor's view. Most of the plateau is looked after by the Department of Forestry in Malawi. There is luxury hotel here called Sunbird Ku Chawe which is newly rebuilt. The hotels can arrange horse riding here and trout fishing in season.
