During the rainy season such roads are very difficult to use and only four wheelers can easily make it on the roads.
The principal mode of transport in Malawi is mainly the minibus. However, in some parts of Malawi the transport system continues to be unreliable.
Besides, road accidents are very common in Malawi and the high rate of accident has turned out to become a matter of great concern. As such it is believed to be unsafe for people to drive during late night hours. The use of seat belt without doubt is necessary as a preventive measure.
People who intend to be in Malawi for quite some time need to have a driver's license issued locally.
