The natural forests of Malawi house over 170 species of mammals and 649 species of birds. This part of Africa boasts of being home to the largest existing mammals in the world. One can positively witness buffalo, elephant, rhinoceros, leopard and lion roaming around freely in the parks of Malawi.
Now most of these animals are restricted within national parks and game reserves due to the dangers posed by man in front them. The government has taken initiative to preserve these animals from the threat of extinction. Hence the Parks in Malawi and game reserves have developed. Game viewing is another special attraction amongst all the other activities. The best season for game viewing is during the months of August to November, which is the dry season. In some parks it is impossible to roam without a four-wheeled vehicle during the rainy season, which stretches form January to March.
