Cuisines of different countries play an important role in their culture. The various types of Malawi cuisines are an important aspect of the Malawi culture. Apart from being a favorite cuisine, Nsima (maize porridge) is the basic food of the people of Malawi. Tasty patties are made out of this and served to the people with beans, vegetables or meat. Starch is one of the main foods of the Malawi people. In any kind of Malawi meal, serving starch in generous amount is a common practice. Delicacies do not play an important role in the Malawi cuisines. Preparing Nsima is a very easy task. You just need one cup of corn meal and four to three cups of water for making this dish and serve it to two people.

The Malawi Lake is full of different kinds of fish and is also the source of water for the people. Chambo, Mlamba (catfish), Usipa, and Kampango are the various types of fishes available in the market. Nsima along with cooked fish is a favorite item of the Malawi food. The taste of the food enhances when grill the fish and season it with salt. Malawians generally prefer fish than meat. The common desserts of the Malawians are Mbatata cookies, Mtedza puffs (peanut), Zitumbuwa (banana fritters) and Nthochi bread. For preparing the most favorite Malawi cuisine "banana fritters" you require these ingredients:
