From the Summer Olympics of 1964 to the Winter Olympics of 2006, Madagascar has been participating in all the Games. But the level of sporting skills of the inhabitants of the country have not yet reached a stage that is formidable enough to compete at the most reputed international events. In 2006 Madagascar took part in Alpine skiing, a different game from the usual events held in the Olympics. The first person to participate, from Madagascar, in the winter Olympics was Mathieu Razanakolona.
