The flora of Madagascar, according to scientists, primarily consisted of the evergreen rain forest. With time, the pattern changed and different sorts of plants began to grow. A unique characteristic of Madagascar plants is that many of the species are found exclusively on the island. This makes most of the plant species of Madagascar interesting and unusual.
Madagascar rain forest forms an integral part of the flora of the island. The plant species in the rain forest is quite varied. The plant species for which the island is more famous are Madagascar palm, found in a number of varieties. The various rare species of Madagascar orchid, some of them belonging to the endemic group, are also very famous.
