Madagascar & UNESCO together has fastened the growth of the country. Madagascar joined UNESCO on 10th November 1960. For technical and professional training two institutes have become the members of UNESCO-UNEVOC. The UNESCO Associated Schools Network also includes 38 schools. Peace, Development and Democracy are represented by the chairs of Madagascar in UNESCO. The presence of the delegation of Madagascar in UNESCO empowers the bonding.
The presence of UNESCO in Madagascar is to serve a very special purpose. They want to materialize the Education for All Program, which was launched in 2001. People were much benefited from this program. More than 10,000 people including adults and youth could be literate. In the field of teacher training a capacity-building program was also introduced.
The UNESCO World Heritage List includes two sites of this country. An inscription was found in the Royal Hill of Ambohimanga in 2001. A royal city, an ensemble of sacred places and a burial sits comprise this site. Since territorial rains caused a land slide in which the ancient buildings were destroyed, an emergency assistance was provided in June 2003 for the purpose of rehabilitation.
Madagascar & UNESCO together have organized a number of programs so that the development of the country can be fastened. Most of these programs have a fruitful result. Madagascar people are much benefited from this programs arranged by UNESCO. Thus Madagascar & UNESCO have made the progress of this country stable.
