The Socialist Party of Macedonia has been a transformation from the Socialist Alliance of Working People. Socialist Party functions as an important political party in Macedonia. Different dilemmas were associated with this transformation.
Socialist Party of Macedonia has played significant role in the politics of Macedonia during the years of its transformation. In 1990, the founding assembly was held in Skopje. The name of the party was decided to be Socialist Alliance-Socialist Party for the time being. The Socialist Party independently won 4 seats in the parliament.
Socialist Party also known as SP, again stood for elections in 1990. The aim of the political party was to fight for democracy and sovereignty in Macedonia. It had a strong determination to bring the country at par with Europe, Balkan and Yugoslavia. Socialist Alliance-Socialist Party together tried to unite the forces that wished to bring democracy and sovereignty in the country. By doing so the forces can together fight for the elections.
It is to be noted in the political history of Macedonia, that no internal strife occurred while the Socialist Party of Macedonia was trying to transform itself. The party has also put forward its schemes for privatization. It had also involved itself in a debate with SDSM, a major political party of Macedonia.
