Democratic Party for Macedonian National Unity is a right wing political party in Macedonia. This political party is also known by the name of VMRO-DPMN. The political party has derived its name from Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization. It drove inspiration after this organization, that was established in 1893.
Democratic Party for Macedonian National Unity remained as the leading political party of Macedonia, since 1990. In 1990 the first democratic election was held in the country from which VMRO-DPMN continued to be a leading power in the politics of Macedonia.
Democratic Party for Macedonian National Unity has won 45 seats in the Legislative Elections of 2006. A government was allowed to form under Nikola Gruevski, the then leaser of the political party. A government was formed with a coalition of Democratic Party of Albanians, VMRO-DPMN, the Socialist Party, the New Social Democratic Party, the Party for European Future, the Democratic Renovation of Macedonia and the Liberal Party.
In 2005, leader of Democratic Party for Macedonian National Unity had appealed to ban Serbian music being broadcasted over radio and television for 3 months.
