Tennis is one of the popular sports in Macedonia. Macedonia tennis have been glorified under its players. In 1995, in the Federation Cup, Macedonia F.Y.R accomplished a debut. Tennis in Macedonia is gaining more popularity day by day and it is making its mark in the world of sports.
Macedonia has taken part in some of the tournaments and the players are gradually gaining experiences by facing their opponents from other parts of the world. In the Federation Cup held in 1995, Macedonia took part from the Europe/Africa zone. It participated as a part of Group 1 A. This has been considered as step forward to a higher level of tennis playing. In Federation Cup of 2000, Macedonia took part as part of Group 2 A.
In the Federation Cup of 2000, Macedonia beat Mauritius at 3-0. In the second round of play, Macedonia had to face Malta. Macedonia achieved success in this round too. Macedonia was successful in beating Kenya in the following round. Ireland had to face defeat in the hands of Macedonia in the fourth round. Predrag Rusevski has become an important name in Macedonia tennis.
