The history of Macedonia football can be traced back to the early years of 20th century. In 1919, a football match was held in Skopje. Gradually football in Macedonia became popular. Many football clubs were established in Macedonia within the years 1909 and 2002.
The first football club in Macedonia was founded in Skopje in 1912. To make this match memorable, a monument was constructed which looks like a huge football. in Macedonia. Then onwards there was a boost in the sports. Macedonian football players took part in a match against players from German army and later with Bulgarian players after the Second World War.

Blagoja Vidinic are noted Macedonia football players. Formerly they used to play for Yugoslav National Team. The Football Federation of Macedonia plays an important role in arranging the leagues and tournaments in the country.
Macedonia joined FIFA as one of its member in 1994. After joining FIFA, Macedonia took part in all the tournaments arranged by the organization. The country also became members of Balkan Football Federation and UEFA. Championship for youth football are also organized by the football clubs in Macedonia.
