Markov Monastery is located in the Markova Sushica village. It is assumed that this Macedonian monastery was set up in the honor the martyr St Demetrius. Till now with its originality and exceptional architecture this place is attracting a lot of tourists who come here from across the world.
It is believed that the Byzantine art has brought it immense popularity. During the time of Byzantine, this monastery had a school of its own and a number of monks and priests wrote several manuscripts. Among them the most famous ones are mentioned below:

Presently the monastic complex comprises dining room and dormitories. The dining room is richly decorated with a bell tower, an old mill, frescoes, a wishing well full of cold spring water and last but not least storerooms. Till now this monastery still has retained its operating oven and a special stove, where rakija (a sort of brandy) is prepared.
