Macedonian Orthodox Church is one of the oldest churches in Macedonia. It also bears historical significance from the day it was founded in Macedonia. This church in Macedonia, is known to spread education and enlighten the followers of the church.
It is believed that enlightenment do not remain obstructed to humans only but it proves beneficial for the entire mankind. The enlightenment is received from God. Clement of Ohrid founded the Slavik University in Macedonia and his preachings were carried on by his disciples in the university.
The church preaches through the school that has been set up to conduct religious studies. A secondary school is also maintained by the church authority. The Orthodox Church of Macedonia follows the old style calender or the Yulian calender while celebrating the gracious occasions of feasts. The church services are followed in Old Church Slavik language or in Macedonian language.
Macedonian Orthodox Church has seven provinces in Macedonia and three provinces outside the country. In total, there are ten provinces under the Macedonian Orthodox Church. The church has 350 priests and 10 Bishops. Majority of the population of Macedonia are Orthodox Christians. About 65 to 70 percent of the total population are followers of this religion. Beyond the country, Macedonian Orthodox Church has many devout followers under its jurisdiction.
