Luxembourg politics is based on a multi-party system. There are a number of
political parties of Luxembourg. They are as follows:
- Christian Social People's Party
- Luxembourg Socialist Workers' Party
- The Communist Party of Luxembourg
The Christian Social People's Party (CSV) is the most dominant
political party of Luxembourg. It is considered to be the largest of all the political parties of Luxembourg. Their party ideology is conservative and Christian Democratic. Francois Biltgen leads the Christian Social People's Party.
Luxembourg Socialist Workers' Party (LSAP) has the reputation of being the second largest political party in Luxembourg. It is basically a center-left party. In the election held in 2004, it won 14 out of 60 seats. Alex Bodry leads this party.
The Communist Party of Luxembourg is one of the important political parties in Luxembourg. This party follows communism. The Communist Party of Luxembourg is currently headed by Ali Ruckert. This part emerged into the political scenario in 1921.
Besides the above, the other political parties at Luxembourg are the Green Party, Democratic Party or DP and the Action Committee for Democracy and Justice or ADR. In the election held in June, 2004, the Christian Social People's Party won 24 seats; Luxembourg Socialist Workers' Party achieved 14 seats, the Democratic Party won 10 seats, Action Committee for Democracy and Justice had 5 seats and the Greens achieved 7 seats.
