It is located in the western San Gabriel Valley region of Los Angeles County, California. It was incorporated as a city on 11th July 1903. The place is named after Washington Irving’s book, “Tales from the Alhambra” and not after the Alhambra palace as many peole might think it to be. It is situated within a "Sixty Mile Circle" centered on Los Angeles. About two-thirds of the State's 100 largest corporations are headquartered within this circle.
