The city of Aberdeen is situated about 30 miles northeast of Baltimore in Harford County of Maryland, USA. Its location between New York and Washington DC and its proximity to US route 40, Inter-State 95, Amtrak and Chessie Railroads, has made it a significant commercial centre of the country. Many big business houses like Frito-Lay, Clorox, Saks Fifth Avenue, Rite Aid, etc. have established their base here due to its strategic location and easy access to railways, airports and shipping routes. This American city of Aberdeen has derived its name from the original Aberdeen city in Scotland. This name was given to it by those Scots who migrated from Scotland and made it their home. The city also houses the US Army's Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), which was established by an Act of the Congress and started its operations in 1918. APG is the headquarter of the United States Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC). Comfortable and well-planned residential localities, excellent schools, exciting shopping centers, and the well-groomed business community, make Aberdeen a favorite destination for all. The US Army Ordnance Museum has a collection of army artifacts dating from the American Revolution.
