World Heritage Sites have created a benchmark in the global platform and the President of Lithuania was coined as UNESCO's goodwill ambassador. Lithuania joined UNESCO in 1991 and is a very active member of

Struve Geodetic Arc is a chain established by a German born Russian scientist Friedrich Georg Wilhelm von Struve and this triangulation chain stretches from Hammerfest in Norway to the Black Sea. Vilnius Old Town is one of the medieval towns of Eastern Europe and was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1994 due to its uniqueness and universal value.
