Tyre City

Similar to most of the cities of Lebanon, Tyre boasts of a rich architectural heritage. This claim got a stronghold when the UNESCO bestowed the city with the title of a World Heritage Site in 1979.These architectural relics are mostly centered around three areas .The first one was the Phoenician island which is the home of many ancient structures like baths and colonnades. The second area is noted for the presence of the Crusader Cathedral. The last and final area has few granite structures, which are pretty impressive.

Other than the popular tourist attractions, Tyre is also known for its market place locally known as the souk. The Mamluke House, the Ottoman inn and the Shia mosque with its double domes are significant landmarks.

Tyre is also a significant tourist destination in Lebanon and the numerous inns, hotels and public houses bear testimony to this fact.

Tyre enjoys a Mediterranean climate owing to its proximity to the sea. The climate is pleasant and comfortable and people from the hills come down during the winters to spend a great time in Tyre.

The city of Tyre has often been referred to in the Old Testament
