Scouting is one major part of Lebanon-Sports and Fitness. Introduced from outside, probably England, Lebanon Scouting attained a position of importance among all. The first scouting groups were formed in schools and gradually spread in the whole country. The scouting groups of Lebanon has achieved amazing popularity in recent years.
After the attainment of independence in1943 Lebanon scouting developed rapidly. The groups of Lebanon scouts were generally formed on the basis of religious affiliation or on ethnicity. However, this aspect does not divide the scouting troops of Lebanon, instead they form integral parts of a whole.
The Lebanese Scouting Federation is responsible for keeping the various scouting groups bound together. All the scouting groups form parts of the Lebanese Scouting Federation and are helped and supported by it. The leaders of the scouting groups of Lebanon are provided training by the Federation. It is also the representative of Lebanon Scouting in the World Bureau.
The years of war in the country saw the active participation of the Lebanon Scouts in the relief work. The co-ordinated efforts of the scouting groups helped the war-torn nation and its people to survive. The supplies of food, water and medicines by Lebanese scouting groups helped the survivors of war.
Lebanon Scouting has become an important part of the life of the people of the country. Some of the associations forming parts of Lebanon Scouting are Al Jarah Scout Association, The Maronite Scout Association, Lebanese Boy Scouts Association, The Islamic Scout Association, Scouts Du Liban and many others.
