One of the most significant and major Lebanon festivals is the Byblos International Festival that takes place every year at Jbeil or Byblos. It is a cultural as well as an entertainment festival of Lebanon.
A music festival, the Byblos International Festival stages one of the most interesting events of the country. Every summer the ancient city of Byblos becomes the venue of a musical extravaganza where the west meets the east on the same platform. Byblos International Festival of Lebanon, which begins at 9 pm, represents a remarkable fusion of Arabic music and international music.
Being held for years, the Byblos International Festival Lebanon assimilates various music genres from different cultures worldwide. Diverse rhythms blend with the enthusiasm of a rapturous crowd and the night becomes alive with the various music forms. The Byblos International Festival in Lebanon has had performances by Nahawand, a famous Arabic star who ruled the Arab music world around five decades ago. Along with Nahawand there has been Compania Garcia Lorca of Jerez de la Frontera, which featured the flamenco artist José Galvez, the orchestra of Oriental Roots and the enchanting combination of Rom Bakhtale's central European Gypsy music and the profound voice of Abdel Karim Chaar.
Byblos has been the hotbed of a number of shows from early times till today. This cultural scene had been disturbed during the Lebanon civil war. But the Ministry of cultural affairs in Lebanon has made efforts to improve the cultural aspect of the town, which has always been the hub of quality music not only of the nation but the world.
