The Arabs ruled over Lebanon for a long period of time. Leaving behind significant impression on Lebanon and its people, the Arabs conquered a major part of the Middle East, and Lebanon was under the rule of the Arabs for a long period of time.
After the decline of the Roman and Byzantines empire in the Middle East, and in Lebanon, the Arabs were the next major race to rule Lebanon. The movement was triggered by the followers of Prophet Muhammad, who wanted to establish control and regulation and impose a return to the Islamic faith in regions in the Middle East, near the Mediterranean. They started a Jihad or a Holy War against non-Islamic populations, embarking on crusades to take control over regions in the Middle East.
Lebanon was directly in the path of the first crusade of the Arabs, who were heading towards Jerusalem. With gradual negotiations with the last Byzantines emperor in Lebanon, the Arabs slowly started getting into Lebanon and taking residence withing the territory. Lebanon soon came under the control of the Arabs following the success of the crusade, and the later Arab occupants of Lebanon treated it as a conquered nation.
The Arab rule had a great impact of Lebanon, and constitutes much of the present Lebanon. During those times, Lebanon used to be a place of refuge for many religious races and tribes. From those rudiments, Lebanon developed the multi ethnic structure and culture that it presently has. There was great advancement in the fields of literature, philosophy and science. The Arab rule helped shape the present day Lebanon.
