The area of Lebanon stretches over an approximate area of 10,452 square kilometers. Of this total area the major portion is taken up by the mainland which measures which occupies almost 10,280 square kilometers. The remaining area is covered by the water bodies and accounts for about 170 square kilometers of the total surface area.
Lebanon shares a common border with Syria and Israel stretching up to 375 kilometers and 79 kilometers respectively. The total area covered by the boundaries thus comes to around 454 square kilometers. The famous border between Lebanon and Israel is known as the Blue Line designated by the United Nations on 7th June 2000 to ascertain the complete withdrawal of Israeli troops from Lebanon.
The coastline of Lebanon occupies an area of about 210 square kilometers .The territorial sea covers an area of about 12 nautical miles. The highest point in the country is the Qurnat as Sawda at a height of about 3,088 m while the lowest point is at 0 m in the Mediterranean Sea.
