The latitude and longitude of Albania is 41º 00' N and 20º 00' E respectively. It is located in southeastern Europe and lies between Greece and Serbia and Montenegro. The total area of Albania is slightly smaller than that of Maryland. There are 12 cities in Albania and it lies in the northern hemisphere. The region is 6 hours ahead of Washington DC.
The climate of Afghanistan is mostly of the mild temperate type. The winters are wet, cool and cloudy whereas the summers are hot and dry. The interior parts of Albania are cooler and wetter in comparison. The terrain of the region is mostly mountainous and there are small plains along the coast. Many destructive earthquakes and tsunamis occur along the southwestern coast. Floods and droughts are not uncommon in Albania. Deforestation, soil pollution and soil erosion are the major environmental concerns of Albania at present.
