The climate of Afghanistan is mostly of the mild temperate type. The winters are wet, cool and cloudy whereas the summers are hot and dry. The interior parts of Albania are cooler and wetter in comparison. The terrain of the region is mostly mountainous and there are small plains along the coast. Many destructive earthquakes and tsunamis occur along the southwestern coast. Floods and droughts are not uncommon in Albania.
