Lifestyle in Laos is mostly a laid back one almost similar to the other South East Asian nations. The Lao people who comprise of a significant part of the population have their own culture and traditions which is present in all over the country. As the country is not very developed economically the lifestyle is very simple and also lacks much amount of western influence. The most significant thing which should be mentioned about the people of Laos is the respect and courtesy present in their behavior. The other thing which is integrally related to the lifestyle in Laos is the dominant presence of Buddhism. Buddhism is a significant part of the history of Laos and even today religion influences the people of this country a lot.
The economy of Laos is significantly based on agriculture and major amount of the population has farming as their main occupation. This inclination towards agriculture is responsible for less number of cities in the country of Laos. As the number of urban centers are very less the lifestyle is also fairly simple. The main festivals in Laos which are celebrated each year or daily are Magha Puja, Herbs and Steam in the temple of Wat Sok Pa Luang and Pii Mai in the city of Luang Prabang. The ancient music of Mor Lam which is a form of folk music has in recent times gained a significant amount of popularity in recent times. People of Thailand were also significantly influenced by this music. The French presence in Laos has influenced its culture, food and language. Thus a mixture of French customs with the indigenous peculiarities can be witnessed in Laos.
