Second Indochina War

Second Indochina War actually refers to the war of the Vietnam against some of the European countries. This war was fought between The North Vietnam and the South Vietnam. South Vietnam was supported by the American Government and North Vietnam got help from China and Soviet Union. The war was a result of the prolonged conflict between the South Vietnam National Liberation Front and the North Vietnam that was Communist. The Second Indochina War lasted for almost twenty five years from 1950 to 1975. In this war, Laos can be said to be dragged in rather taking part in the Second Indochina War actively.

The Second Indochina War has much confusion though regarding the starting point and also the progress of the war. Regarding the motive and agenda of the war, there are some confusion and clash of opinions as well. Moreover, though the war was primarily between Vietnam and America and the allies of both these parties involved, Laos and Cambodia were also dragged into the sufferings and other war related problems. As a result in the history of Laos, there is a deep influence of this war.

The main cause that Laos got involved into the Second Indochina War was that the North Vietnam needed to use a road named, Ho Chi Minh Trail, which passes through Laos. This was a part of the war tactics of North Vietnam. They needed to have control over this trail for sending soldiers and other supplies to the Southern part of Vietnam. But as a result of the Second Indochina War, Laos is the country that was mostly affected by the US merciless bombing.
