Laos Parliament functions following the policies made by a single-party. It is responsible for granting legislation and granting government many duties. The head of government and cabinet is chosen from among this group in the Laos Parliament. Ministers and cabinet collectively and individually control the Parliament. They are accountable to the Parliament of Laos for their functions. The cabinet and the ministers are there to serve a five year term. After that a new Cabinet should be formed to run the Parliament. The President is separately selected. He appoints the Prime Minister and the other Ministers.
The Constitution of Laos was promulgated on 14th August, 1991 after much debate in the Parliament in Laos. The Legal System is based on French legal norms as well as traditional customs. It has its root also in the Socialist practice.
According to the Executive Branches the President is the head of State while the Prime Minister is the head of government. The Council of Ministers is appointed by the President, approved by the national Assembly.
The Legislative branch includes 99 sits for the National assembly. National Assembly elects the president of the People's Supreme Court. LPRP is the only legal political party. The Cabinet in the Laos Parliament has got 115 sits. The country is divided into 16 administrative provinces, 1 municipality and 1 special zone. The municipality is Kumpang Nakon. The provinces are Attapu, Bokeo, Champasak, Phongsali, Bolikhamxai, Houphan, Louangphabang, Khammouan, Loung Namtha, Oudomxai, Savannakhet, Vientiane Prefecture with Vientiane capital, Vientiane Province, Xaignabouli, xaisomboun and the special zone is Xekong.
Laos Parliament is not very complicated as it is guided by a single party.
