The relationship of Laos and Cambodia was significantly influenced in history by Vietnam to a great extent. Religious similarity of the two countries can also be held responsible for the amiable relation of these two countries. In the historical age the entire south East Asia also had similar culture and was influenced by India and China. However the Chinese and Indian impact was such great on the country that both Laos and Cambodia are called Indochinese countries. Like the other South East Asian countries the borders of Laos and Cambodia are created depending on the geographical landscape and terrain.
Laos is a land locked country and Cambodia is one of its neighboring states. Due to this fact like most of the other countries in the world both these countries have a border issue which results in frequent disputes and arguments. The media and the common people of Cambodia make constant allegations against Laos, Vietnam and Thailand for illegally intruding into their territory. Both these South East Asian countries are members of few international organizations like ASEAN and NAM which are exclusively Asian organizations. The Laos Cambodia political squabbles have however not affected the cultural links the two countries possess. Laos and Cambodia has a common study group or an association for developing Asian Studies. For political purpose also Cambodia and Laos had made an association which the other South Asian countries have also joined. The two countries held a meeting at an international level in 2000 called the 8th APEC Informal Leadership Meeting to solve some of the recurrent problems.
