Kyrgyzstan Language



The Kyrgyzstan Language has a strong connection with the ethnic identity of the country and forms the basic foundation of the social culture of the country. The language of Kyrgyzstan which is known as Kyrgyz is the official language of the state, which is spoken by more than 2 million natives of the Kyrgyzstan Republic. In this connection it has to be mentioned that Russian is the other official language of the country.

History of Kyrgyzstan Language

An 8th century inscription was the main source where the first reference of the Kyrgyz language was recorded. During this period the Kyrgyz were inhabited in Central Mongolia. The Kyrgyz speaking people often migrated to other countries in Central Asia and so there are several countries like parts of China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Western Mongolia and all, where Kyrgyz speaker can be found.

Classification of Kyrgyzstan Language

The Kyrgyz language can be classified into two distinctive dialects, the Northern language and the Southern language. The Southern dialect of Kyrgyzstan can again be divided into two variants, the South-Western and the South-Eastern language. The Standard Kyrgyz is mainly based upon the Northern dialect, which has been influenced largely by Mongolian Languages.

The modern Kyrgyz language is a form of Cyrillic, which was modified and introduced in 1940. Although Russian is also an official language of the country, Kyrgyzstan Language is considered as the mother tongue of almost all the natives.
