The population of Naryn Oblast is very less compared to its geographical location. The Russian influence is less in the region of Naryn Oblast.
Naryn Oblast handicraft is world famous. The craft articles of Naryn Oblast in Kyrgyzstan are mostly inspired from the traditional life style of Kyrgyzstan. Ala-kyiz is an example of the exceptional handicraft work in this region. Different colored wool is used to make the ala-kyiz. Shyrdak is also a type of rug and it is made by the appliqué process. The base of the shyrdak has a dark color. Subsequently the second layer is made with positive design images. Women of Naryn Oblast have excelled in making these handicrafts.
The residence of the nomadic people is the traditional yurt .Yurt is a circular tent which has a doomed roof. The tent can be dismantled when the family wants to move ahead. The tent is covered with felt which protects the family from heat and cold. The felt is mostly made from the wool of the sheep. The felt used to cover the wall is not decorated too much but the one used to cover the floor has beautiful decoration.
