Kyrgyzstan Agriculture is ascertained by the country's production, marketing and finance industries, and face value prices of the products. The objectives assigned by the former Soviet Union in the arena of agriculture is to encourage mutuality among the agricultural sectors of Kyrgyzstan.

Agricultural production in Kyrgyzstan is often carried out in the state farms and sometimes in the collective farm yards too, which are gradually being privatized. The major agricultural regions in Kyrgyzstan are:
  • Fergana Valley - Osh and Jalal-Abad territories
  • The northern Chu and Talas valleys
  • The northeastern Ysyk-Köl basin.
Kyrgyzstan comprises of almost 1.4 million hectares of fertile land, among which only 7 % covers the total area of the country. Irrigation is necessary for almost 70% of the arable land, for its productivity. The post-Soviet years, Kyrgyzstan agriculture has emphasized on the production of raw materials for industrial requirement.

In Kyrgyzstan, almost 62 % of the population is estimated to be rural and thus the main crops produced are:
  • Cotton
  • Wheat
  • Fodder crops
  • Barley
Other seasonal agricultural products are:
  • Sugar beets
  • Tobacco
  • Fruit
  • Vegetables
  • Silk
According to the survey of agricultural production in Kyrgyzstan in the year 1994 the highest harvested crops were:
  • wheat by 611,000 tons
  • barley by 300,000 tons
  • potatoes by 288,000 tons
  • tomatoes by 160,000 tons
Agriculture in Kyrgyzstan is the chief occupation of the Kyrgyz people who are also into livestock rearing with animals like sheep, goats, and cattle in the mountainous pasture land. Kyrgyzstan Agriculture mainly occurs in the cultivable land of Shu, Fergana valleys and Talas.
